Australian Shepherds have earned their selves the nick-name “Velcro-dog,” for a reason! Every one of our Aussies would rather be next to their human’s side, whether it be me, my husband or one of my boys, than anywhere else!
“Miniature Australian Shepherds are easygoing, perpetual puppies that love to play. Courageous, loyal and affectionate, they are excellent children’s companions that are great with active children. A devoted friend and guardian. Very lively, agile and attentive, they are eager to please with a sixth sense about what the owner wants. Miniature Australian Shepherds are highly intelligent and easy to train. ” -https://www.dogbreedinfo.com/miniatureaustralianshepherd.htm
Australian Shepherds do however, require lots of exercise and/or mental stimulation. Such as brain games, learning new tricks, doggie puzzles or something of that nature. In my experience, 15-25 minutes of mental stimulation wears my pups out more than a 30-45 minute game of fetch. Aussies are a breed that yearn to please their owners and enjoy a job to do. Which almost sounds like a chore, but in all honesty, it is so much fun teaching them new tricks because more often than not they WANT to learn and try very hard! It is precious and very fun for the whole family! My four year old thinks it is HILARIOUS teaching them new tricks and it helps them bond!
Australian Shepherds make for excellent companions, active family pets, show dogs, agility dogs, fly ball dogs, working dogs, service dogs, and/or emotional support dogs!
Australian Shepherds are categorized by height, not weight. And all estimates of a puppies adult size, are just that, estimates. No one can be 100% positive what size a puppy will turn out to be as an adult, but we do follow puppy charts and past experiences with our own dogs to give you the very best estimate!
Standard Australian Shepherds are from 18″-23″ of height at their whithers.
Miniature Australian Shepherds are from 14″-18″ of height at their whithers.
Toy Australian Shepherds are 10″-14″ of height at their whithers.
Not only is there a wide range in size on Aussies, there is also a wide range of colors!
